Pop Quiz! Inspiration

8 Apr

Well, it’s that time again, people. Since I’m supposed to be sweatin’ off the pounds in preparation for summer, I thought I’d make tonight’s quiz theme ‘Inspiration.’ Whatever that means? Come on. Let’s figure it out!

1. Who sings the song ‘Physical?’

2. What exercise guru wears itty bitty shorts and a tank top, with a color scheme of red & white stripes?

(Want a great workout pumper for your iPod? Add ‘Maniac.’ I shit you not, that song is surprisingly awesome and not as corny as you might think!)

7. This song/workout was developed in the 60’s to help American kids get fit. We were still doing it in my PE class in the 70’s and 80’s, and I still love it today. Hint: it’s called ‘Chicken ______?’ Fill in the blank.

Pop Quiz! Topic: Random

1 Apr

Happy Fool’s Day, readers. I hope you pulled off your pranks and gave as good as you got. I managed to trick a few readers today. Hopefully, they enjoyed the joke. Now let’s see, what should we make today’s quiz about… How about songs from my iPod, VHS movies in my garage, and books I loved when I was young.

1. This movie got me all hot and bothered when I watched it for the first time in jr. high. Starring Daryl Hannah & Aiden Quinn, the pool scene was hot, hot, hot. ‘Kids in America’ played on the soundtrack. He rode a motorcycle and came from a working class home, she came from big bucks. Name that movie…

2. In ‘Dazed and Confused,’ Randal “Pink” Floyd was the star quarterback. Why was he thinking of quitting before his senior year? What did he not want to do?

3. In ‘Reality Bites,’ Winona Ryder comes up with a slick scheme to earn a little money. What does she do?

4. In ‘Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion,’ what do the girls claim they invented? (Hey MG, I’m the Mary!)

5. What girl band sang the 80’s song ‘Head Over Heels?’

6. This book by Judy Blume, for older girls, was S-E-X-Y! My old BF and I read all the dirty parts of a smuggled copy in her grandma’s bathroom when we were about ten. Can you name it? It’s a one word title.

7. Name the up-beat duet by Elton John and Kiki Dee.

8. What Paul Simon song goes like this, “Well, I learned to play some lead guitar, and I was under age in some funky bar when I stepped outside to smoke myself a J…”

9. What 90’s grunge band sang the song ‘My Wave?’

10. In the movie ‘Starsky & Hutch,’ Ben Stiller finds himself in a dance-off at a Disco after accidentally ingesting a sizeable amount of cocaine. What dance from the future does he bust out?

Here’s a good pumper to get ya in the mood for the weekend. It’s going to make you go to You Tube (I sifted through many, sorry) but, it’s no biggie. Come on back to RTM when you’ve finished shakin’ it. As always, answers found in the Comments. Check ya later… (Said Dazed & Confused style, scene-in the car, cruisin’.)

Pop Quiz! Anything Goes II

25 Mar

TGIF, readers. Your pop quiz topic is once again ‘Anything Goes,’ so put on your thinking caps. Random, it shall be. Let’s do it… (Said like Tone Loc in Wildthing.)

1. What TV show theme song went like this: “Baby, if you’ve ever wondered, wondered whatever became of me, I’m livin’ on the air in Cincinnati, Cincinnati…” what?

2. On the above show, the buxom Loni Anderson played the receptionist. Other characters were Andy, Les Nessman, the Big Guy, Herb, & Venus Fly Trap. What was the name of the cool, older, white DJ?

3. A popular backyard game in the eighties, this dangerous toy was eventually banned due to injuries. Name it.

4. This high energy nighttime show featured popular artists who would sing their hits while dancers strutted their stuff around them. What was it?

5. These sometimes colorful jeans for girls had an ice cream cone on the label. Loved them. What was the brand?

6. This McDonald’s “rap” was a popular commercial in the eighties. Can you finish it? “Big Mac, Fillet-o-Fish, Quarter Pounder, French Fries, Icy Coke, Thick Shake,…” what’s next?

7. This eighties blockbuster had teens everywhere wishing they had the balls to run a Whore House out of their parents’ home for just one night. Name that movie.

8. What band instructed teens to, “Bang Your Head, metal health will drive you mad…”

9. Which band sang these hits: ‘Lick It Up’, ‘Heaven’s On Fire’, and ‘Beth?’

10. Who sang ‘Cool for Cats?’ (Love this song. Tried to put the video on RTM but, it makes you watch it at You Tube. Arghhh.)

Bonus Question: What was the book series about children locked in an attic who fall in love, have an incestuous relationship and end up breeding. (I read this whole series in jr. high, which seems a little odd, but I think everyone did? My mom would buy them for me at the grocery store!)

OK, this is kind of funny. When I put videos on here I try to use ones that you can watch on RTM instead of being sent to You Tube. Which also means I have to sift through tons before I find one. Sometimes I give up and put them on anyway. I wanted to use ‘Cool Places’ or ‘I Predict’ by the Sparks, but the videos were from concerts and very low quality. But, then I found the Kids Incorporated version. Loved that show! So, here it is. Have a crazy weekend and don’t forget to vote every day! Pour a stiffy and watch these crazy kids rock the shit out of ‘Cool Places!’ HaHaHa… (My head is back and I am laughing loud and hard!) ***Hey, BTW, I just realized this is my 100th post! Woo Hoo!***
